About Atom Bank
Founded in 2014 in the North East of England, Atom Bank is the first mobile-exclusive bank. As such, their mortgage customers manage everything from an app – from accepting a mortgage offer to viewing statements.
They offer a number of mortgage options, including various fixed-rate, variable rate, remortgaging and first-time buyer mortgages.
Atom Bank mortgages are available to a wide range of people, but they generally won’t lend to you if you have particularly bad credit.
We’ve reviewed some of the UK’s top mortgage lenders and measured their service, application speed and affordability.
In this review we’ll cover:

Is Atom Bank a good mortgage lender?
There are many ways to measure how good a lender is. We tend to focus on publicly available complaints data to estimate a mortgage lender’s quality of service.
Unfortunately Atom Bank’s customer complaints records are currently unavailable, but we’ll update this page as soon as we have access to them.
How long does an Atom Bank application take?
During the last six months, the average speed that Atom Bank processed a Trussle customer’s successful mortgage application was 20 days. That’s slower than the 16-day average across all the lenders we’ve submitted applications to.
Bear in mind that the speed of application will vary depending on your own personal circumstances and the lender’s present day-to-day performance. In some cases, applications can be approved by the lender within 24 hours, while some can take weeks or even months. This can also be impacted by the quality of the application submitted, which is why you may want to consider using a mortgage broker. The average quoted speed therefore may not reflect your own experience.
How much could I afford to borrow from Atom Bank?
The amount you can borrow for a mortgage can vary. If your individual or joint earnings before tax are less than £100k, you could borrow up to 4.5 times your income before tax, or 4.75 times your income before tax if your earnings are over £100k.
You’ll find Atom Bank’s mortgage calculator on their website – this will give you an estimate of how much you may be able to borrow.
